Aloo jeera or jeera aloo is a Spicy and sour curry flavored with cumin seeds. It is easy to make for everyday cooking.
Ingredients
4 medium size potatoes
1/4 cup of green peas (frozen or fresh)
1-1&1/2 tsp of cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander and cumin powder
1-1&1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp amchur/dry mango powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
salt for your taste
1-2 tsp lemon juice
handful of coriander leaves/cilantro

Preparation
Boil the potatoes and peel them. Then cut them into cubes or about 1inch pieces. Keep them aside.
Procedure
Place a thick bottom pan on medium heat. Take 2 tbsp of oil or ghee. When the oil is hot add 1-2 tbsp of cumin seeds. Let the cumin seeds puff up. Then turn down the flame to low. Then add hing/asafoetida. While keep stirring add the following ingredients. Add coriander and cumin powder, red chili powder, amchur/dry mango powder and turmeric powder. Once all the spices are mixed well, add potatoes. Mix them or toss them well. All the potato pieces should coat with all the spices. Add in salt. Also add lemon juice for extra sourness. Finally add cilantro/coriander leaves and mix well. Serve it hot with chapathi or rice.
