Broccoli chana dal is a delicious and healthy curry for everyday cooking. It is very easy to make and it is full of protein and fiber.
Ingredients
1 medium size broccoli head
1 cup chana dal
salt to taste
For tempering
1-2 tbsp oil
1 tsp urad dal
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
3-5 red chili
a big pinch of hing
few curry leaves

Preparation
Wash and soak chana dal for about 30 minutes.
Cut the broccoli into small florets and wash them well.

Procedure
After 30 minutes of soaking chana dal, take it into a pan along with water. Water should be little above the dal. Spread the broccoli on top of the dal. Turn on the flame to medium or low medium. Let them cook until both dal and broccoli are cooked well. It will take approximately 10 minutes. Check it once after 5 minutes. Once both are cooked turn off the flame. Prepare the tempering.
Tempering
In a thick bottom pan take 1-2 tbsp of chana dal. Keep it on medium flame. When the oil is hot add urad dal, mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When the mustard seeds are spluttering, add red chili by cutting into small pieces. Add hing/asafoetida and curry leaves. Add cooked dal and broccoli. Stir it once. Add turmeric powder and salt. Give it a good stir. Keep stirring for one more minute, so if there is any moisture it will go away. Turn off the stove. Serve broccoli chana dal with rice.
