Carrot Halwa-Gajar ki Halwa

Carrot halwa is a traditional Indian desert.
Ingredients
4 cups of grated carrot
1 cup of milk
1 cup of milk powder
1 cup of brown sugar
​3 tbsp of butter or ghee

Some cashews and almond slices
5 cardamoms
1/4 tsp orange zest
Preparation
​Wash the carrots thoroughly and grate them with a cheese grater.
Wash an orange and grate the zest with the small holes of a cheese grater.
Procedure
Take the butter into a thick bottom pan and heat it on medium heat. When the butter is melted add cashews and almonds and fry them until light brown in color. Transfer them into a bowl and add the carrot to the same butter. Fry the carrot for 4-5 minutes and add the milk. Cook with milk until all the milk is evaporated. Then add the milk powder and mix it well. Add the sugar and stir it well. Keep stirring until all the halva thickens and coming together. Add the fried nuts and orange zest. Mix it well. Serve it warm or cold as a dessert.
