Try Drumstick rasam or Mulakkada charu in Andhra style. You may enjoy with some rice or just enjoy it as a soup for a mouthful of taste.
Ingredients
2-3 drum sticks
1 tomato
handful of cilantro/coriander leaves
few curry leaves
a lime size tamarind
1 tbsp jaggery
2 tbsp rasam powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
salt for taste
For tempering
1 tbsp ghee
1/8 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
2-3 red chilies
a pinch of hing

Preparation
Wash and cut Drumsticks/Mulakkadalu into 2-3 inch pieces.
Wash and cut tomato into small pieces.
Wash and chop cilantro finely.
Extract juice from tamarind.
Wash and cut Drumsticks/Mulakkadalu into 2-3 inch pieces.

Procedure
Take drumstick pieces into a vessel and add some water. Cook this on low medium flame for about 5 minutes. Then add tomato and continue cooking until tomatoes are soft. Then add tomato juice, salt, turmeric powder, jaggery and rasam powder. Add curry leaves and let it come to a boil on low flame.
Tempering
In a small sauce pan heat 1 tbsp of oil or ghee. When the ghee is hot add fenugreek seeds followed by mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When the mustard seeds are crackling add red chilies by cutting into pieces and hing/asafoetida. Switch off the flame and add this tempering to Drumstick rasam.
When the rasam comes to a boil turn off the heat and add cilantro. Delicious drumstick rasam or mulakkada charu is ready with mouthful of taste. Enjoy!!
