Drumstick/Mulakkada curry is a delicious dish that makes your meal special. It can go with rice or chapati.
Ingredients
4 drumsticks
1 big onion
3 green chilies
3-4 tomatoes
a handful of cilantro
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp coriander and cumin powder
salt to taste
For tempering
1-2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chana dal
1 tbsp urad dal
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
few curry leaves
Preparation
Wash and cut drumstick into 2 inch pieces.
Cut onion and tomato into small pieces separately.
Cut green chili lengthwise.
Chop cilantro finely.

Procedure
Place a thick bottom pan on medium heat. Add oil to it. When the oil is hot add chana dal, urad dal, mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add green chili also and fry for a few seconds. When the mustard seeds are spluttering add curry leaves. Then add onions and give a stir. Add a pinch of salt to onions. Cover and cook for a minute or two. Then add tomato and give a stir. To this tomatoes add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander and cumin powder and salt. Mix everything well, cover and cook for 2 more minutes.
After 2 minutes add drumsticks and 1/2 a cup of water. Let the drumsticks cook with the spices and tomatoes for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes if the drumsticks are not done cooking, add little more water and continue cooking. When the drumsticks are soft when you press and looks translucent you know that they are done cooking. Add cilantro and give a mix. Serve this mulakkada tomato kura/drumstick tomato curry with rice or chapati and enjoy.
