Easy ways to grow green onions in the backyard or on the terrace

Grow your own green onions easily in the backyard or on the terrace. There are two easy ways that I use.
Method 1
When  you buy green onions from grocery store, do not throw away the bulbs. Cut them about 1 inch above the bulb. Keep the bulbs along with roots in a bowl of water for a couple of days. This step is optional. Plant them in the pot or on the ground. Water them everyday. In 3-4 days new leaves will come out from the bulbs.
Method 2
When you cut the onions for your cooking, cut them on 4 sides and keep the center portion of the bulb. You have to keep the root portion also even though the roots are dried out. Keep them in water for a couple of days. This step is optional. You can plant them in the pot or on the soil and water them every day. You can see the new plants coming in just 3-4 days.
