12/8/2013

Crushed red peppers are very handy for Indian cooking. Make them at home and store in an air tight container.
Ingredients
Red Chilies

Preparation
Dry them in one of the following methods
1. If you have full Sun put them under the Sun for an hour.
2. Spread them on a pan and put in the oven with the lowest temperature on for 15-20 minutes or until they are crispy.
3.Roast them on stove top for 1 or 2 minutes and let them cool down.

Procedure
Take them into a food processor and crush them coarsely.
If there are big chunks here and there it is ok.
You can keep the seeds. When they fry in oil the seeds taste good.
You can make a big batch also.
Keep this in an air tight container. do not put wet hands.

Helpful Tips
When you fry crushed peppers in oil all that spiciness will get into the oil. So you will be using less than whole red chili
When you have a baby in the house do not do this as they may get chocked with the spiciness.
If you put your hands in the eyes accidentally after doing this, they get burned.
So make sure you wash your hands very well after doing this.

Health Information
Red chili is a good source of vitamin C.
But you don't want to eat too much.
