Synthetic food colors are very toxic and dangerous. Natural food colors can be made easily with fruits and vegetables. Today let us make carrot powder. Carrot powder can be used to make icing for cakes and cookies.
Ingredients
Take required amount of carrots.
preparation
Wash the carrots thoroughly. Grate them with a cheese grater. Or you can cut them into small pieces if you prefer.
Drying
Use any of the following methods to dry the carrots.
1. Take them into a thick bottom and dry roast them on low or low medium flame. Keep an eye and stir them in between. Do not let them get black as the color of the final product will be changed. fry them until they get crispy.

2. Spread the grated carrots on a cookie sheet and place it in the oven and bake it at it's lowest temp. until they get crispy and make rattling sound.

3. Spread them on a plate in a single layer, and put them under the Sun. Cover them with a thin cloth or net to protect them from dust. Dry them until they get crispy.

Grinding
Take the dried carrot flakes into your blender and make them into a fine powder. You may sift/sieve the ground powder to get fine powder and grind the remaining granules.

Storing and using
Store the ground fine powder in a clean and dry glass bottle with a tight lid. This orange powder can be used wherever you need orange color.  It gives a nice color for sooji halwa, pineapple sheera etc.
