1/2 tsp ghee or oil.
Procedure
Measure 1 cup of quinoa into a thick bottom pan and fry on medium heat with 1/2 tsp of ghee for a minute. Then add 1&1/2 cups of water and stir it once. When it comes to a boil, which will be almost immediately, bring down the flame to low and cover with a lid. Cook this for about 12-15 minutes. In my case it took me 13 minutes.
By then all the water should be evaporated. Quinoa seeds should look translucent and the germ should come out and looks like a ring around the seed. This indicates that the quinoa is well cooked. Switch off the flame. Fluff up the quinoa with a fork or spoon to let the steam out. This prevents further cooking. If you can transfer quinoa into another plate or bowl also prevents further cooking.
