Most of the Tortilla chips are made out of corn. And most of the corn that is grown in US is genetically modified. Genetically modified chips are linked to many health risks including cancer. Even the flour tortilla chips have preservatives in them.
So why not make your own tortilla chips? I have a good recipe here with my left over chapatis. My chapatis are made out of whole wheat, wheat germ and flax seed. Use your own spices for your taste.

Ingredients
Whole wheat chapatis 5-6.
Small amount of oil or ghee to sprinkle on each chapati.
Spices
Red chili powder
Dry mango powder
Cumin powder
Salt
Preparation
Get your chapatis ready by applying some oil or ghee on them.
If you want to use zero oil, just sprinkle some water. Water helps the spices to stick to the chapati.
After applying oil cut each chapati into half and each half into 4 pieces. So you will get 8 wedges from each chapati.
Pre heat oven to 350F.

Procedure
Arrange all chapati pieces on a baking sheet with oil side up(if you want you can apply oil on both sides). Sprinkle the spices on them. You may mix all the spices or sprinkle them separately. Put it in the pre heated oven for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes flip them to the other side. Again put the baking sheet in the oven and keep an eye. It takes about 5-7 minutes. It took me 6 minutes. Let them cool down for 5 minutes when they are done. Put them in an air tight container. Serve them with homemade salsa or guacamole.
Helpful Tips
You may also use pita bread to make chips.
You can use your favorite spices and herbs.
Health Information
The chapatis that I used here are made with whole wheat, wheat germ and flax seed. They are protein and fiber rich.
The commercial chips whether they are corn or flour, contain preservatives.
Corn chips are even bad because most of the corn grown in US is genetically modified, unless we buy certified organic chips. Genetically modified foods cause many health risks including cancer.
